Celebrating holidays and milestones

I hope you’ve been lucky enough to take a little extra break over this long weekend … I know I’ve been relishing the time away from work, even if it has made be feel a little lazier than usual (so much for productivity). Oh well, it’s the perfect way to be when on holidays I think.

Apart from enjoying the lazy times, this week saw me pass a little milestone on my blog. While I’ve been blogging for years and years, my inconsistent posting frequency has meant that it’s taken me a long time to build up to any great number of posts. However, I am happy to have finally arrived at 400 … (I think this post will actually be post 402, but that’s close enough for me).

To mark the occasion I wanted to hold a little giveaway, and so I’ve gathered a few goodies together with just that idea in mind. Instead of this giveaway being a huge prize pool for one person to win, I’m breaking the prizes into six. That way, you have a better chance of winning something!

A celebratory giveaway!

The giveaway is open to any of my lovely readers around the world, and here’s what you could win:

  • A copy of ‘Bespoke‘, Issue 2 which includes a fabulous article (haha) written by yours truly.
  • The original artworks of Audrey Hepburn and Ingrid Bergman drawn by the Mr, which accompanied my Bespoke article.
  • ‘Home Sweet Home’ glass tile magnet set from ‘The Lovely Magnet Shoppe‘ (set contains three magnets).
  • Writer bracelet by ‘Tilly Bloom‘ including charms of an ink bottle, a book of Shakespeare, a typewriter, an owl, and a poetry circle (T.S.Eliot). The bracelet is made of silver-plated steel and is lightweight & comfortable to wear.
  • Two packs of ‘Do not feed the ducks’ paperclips in a mix of purple and red (each pack contains 14 duck paperclips), put together by me.

All you have to do to enter is leave a comment telling me about something fun you’ve done recently (just one entry per person please). With any luck one of these lovely prizes will soon be coming your way. Winners will be drawn at random next Friday 29 April and will be randomly assigned to each of the six prizes on offer. Good luck!

PS. The three winners of my ‘Instant Herb Garden‘ kits are: Linda, Galit and Belinda. Congratulations ladies, I’ll be sending an email to you shortly. xx

well recently (yesterday it was) the weather here has been great (it feels like summer, and that’s a bit weird!) so yesterday after work me and my colleagues decided it was time to start the rosΓ©-wine-friday-after-work-time. After closing the museum at 6pm we went to a wonderful cafΓ© terrace to sit and stare while drinking and laughing….those moments were really missing and we had a lot of fun for 2 hours πŸ™‚
That’s the funnest thing I’ve done recently hope it’s ok to enter the giveaway πŸ™‚ because I’m loving that writer bracelet (what a cute idea) and that issue of Bespoke πŸ˜‰
Thanks for doing this wonderful giveaway, wish you a wonderful big weekend !

Hi Sofia – Oh I very much like the idea of ‘rose wine Friday after work time’ … that sounds like something that should be enjoyed every week! πŸ™‚

Sitting on a terrace and watching the world go by would be a very enjoyable way to while away a few hours in fine company. That’s definitely a fun-worthy activity! πŸ™‚

I hope you had a lovely weekend … I’ll announce the winners soon.

    Face painting fun…
We organised a face painting fun party at home. My little one enjoyed a lot. I invited 4 friends of mine with their little ones for a get together and face painting fun . Everyone had a great time and kids were happy being their faces painted as batman, butterlies, spiderman…

    1. tracey (Post author)

Hi Sapna – Face painting fun would be great to do at home (if not a little messy). πŸ˜‰
I bet you were popular for putting on such an activity.

We had a really fun Easter Sunday today. It started for me when I was dragged out of bed by my daughter who was impatient to go to the zoo. After a great morning visiting the Lions, Monkeys, Zebras and feeding the Giraffes, we came home so that our two very tired children could have a sleep. While they slept, I set up a small Easter Egg hunt. Which led to lots of fun once everyone woke up!

    1. tartankiwi

Oh and congratulations on 400 posts! That is certainly a milestone to celebrate!!!

      1. tracey (Post author)

Hi Tartankiwi – Gosh that does sound like you had a lovely day. I bet your children loved visiting all the exotic animals. And to top it all off with an Easter egg hunt? How wonderful! πŸ™‚

Thanks so much for your congratulations on reaching 400 blog posts! You are lovely.

  4. Debby

Congratulations on your 402nd post…I’m looking forward to the next 402…

It sounds like you’ve had a perfect Easter holiday Tracey…it’s good to have some lazy down time… We’ve been blessed with the most amazing weather for the time of year…25c all weekend…so we’ve been spending most of it outdoors with long walks by the river and meadows with family and friends…a great way to walk off all the chocolate!!

    1. tracey (Post author)

Hi Debby – Thanks so much for your kind congratulations on my 402nd post, lovely readers like yourself make it all worthwhile.

It was a wonderful Easter break, I think it’s a wonderful opportunity to take it easy for a while, not to mention a nice excuse to eat some lovely chocolate. πŸ˜‰
The weather you’ve been having sounds glorious … I hope it’s still been treating you well.

  5. Gabrielle Bryden

Congrats Tracey on your blog milestone. I read your article in ‘bespoke’ – lots of fun (I think I fit the Casablanca 1940’s era best) and the illustrations by Lee are really cool). Something fun – well I was doing a bit of snorkelling (in a resort pool) for the first time – never done it before – practicing in case I ever get to get near the coral πŸ™‚ I had the flippers, snorkel and goggles – must have looked a fright – haha.

    1. tracey (Post author)

Hi Gabrielle – Thanks for your congratulations Gabrielle … It feels like it’s taken me a long time to get to 400, but hopefully the next 400 won’t take me as long! πŸ™‚

I’m glad you enjoyed my Bespoke article … it was great that Lee was able to illustrate the article so well for me.
I must say that I’m a bit of a Casablanca girl myself! πŸ™‚

Haha, I love that you practiced snorkeling in the resort pool … I think that’s an incredibly sensible idea. I’ve only been snorkelling once (off Long Island) and I think I would have benefitted from a bit more preparation. I hope you get near the coral next time! πŸ™‚

  6. Mel

Yay, congrats on your milestone πŸ™‚ And congrats to the new owners of herb gardens!

Something fun? Well, I’m spending Easter in France with friends – it’s a beautiful, beautiful part of the country, the weather is glorious, we’ve seen some amazing sights, enjoyed and Easter egg hunt and Easter treasure hunt, today we’re visiting a castle and an aquarium, and tomorrow my girl turns 9 – the fun doesn’t look like stopping any time soon!! xx

    1. tracey (Post author)

Hi Mel – Thanks so much! How lovely that you were able to spend your Easter in France! That’s a pretty lovely part of the world I’m sure. It sounds like you certainly filled your days with fun and good times. πŸ™‚
I love that you had both an Easter egg hunt AND a treasure hunt!

I hope the fun has been continuing for you! πŸ™‚

  7. Kimberley

oooh! What a milestone congrats! Fun things that I’ve done lately?
Participating in my sister’s Easter ‘family quiz’ and being a sore loser (whilst having the giggles), and then playing Brain Training on the Wii with them and yelling at the TV. It was a blast! πŸ™‚

    1. tracey (Post author)

Hi Kimberley – Thanks so much for your sweet Congratulations on my blog milestone (you are a dear!) πŸ™‚

I love that you have an Easter family quiz … that’s a lovely thing to do, but what a shame you lost this time around … maybe next year? πŸ˜‰ … I’m glad to hear you still did plenty of giggling! πŸ™‚

I’m a bit behind on drawing the giveaway winners, but stay tuned.

  8. Sonia

Wow Tracey, that’s a lot of posts! Congratulations!!
Being lazier than usual is the beauty of a long weekend. My body got a rude shock from the very thought, and I’ve now got the flu. That’s not fun at all. However I did have fun making a tutu this week as you know. There’s a lot to be said for making something, be it baking, cooking, sewing or whatever. This year I’m trying to focus on doing more of that type of thing in general.

    1. tracey (Post author)

Hi Sonia – Thanks so much for your kind congratulations, I hope I can be a bit more consistent with posting more frequently so that the next milestone comes around a little quicker! πŸ™‚

Being lazy does have a certain charm … but how unfortunate that you ended up with the flu! I hope it didn’t stick around for too long.

I agree that making something, whatever that something may be, is a joy and a reward in itself. πŸ™‚
I want to do that sort of thing more often too.

  9. Rel

Oh gosh! A competition and such lovely prizes! Well I can’t resist – My fun thing is that this morning I was tied up with a skipping rope and thrown in a “dungeon” by two little soldiers – my 4 year old niece and 2 year nephew. I was supposed to be rescued by handsome Prince Ric (my husband) but unfortunately he turned traitor and I was left to hatch my own escape and revenge plans. Much fun was had by all repeating this scenario many times over, not a plastic toy anywhere in sight, such priceless entertainment and precious memories to be treasured forever.

    1. tracey (Post author)

Hi Rel – I’m glad you decided to enter … I’ll announce the winners very soon.
Gosh you certainly had an adventure with your two little ‘soldiers’, how awful though that your handsome prince turned out to be a traitor! πŸ˜‰

Those sort of games are lots of fun and the very stuff of a healthy imagination.

  10. le @thirdontheright

well today watching my six year old wrestle in the lounge with his daddy … using sticky tape and a blanket to gain the upper hand – hilarious!! for me …. not so much fun for dad …. happy days le xox

    1. tracey (Post author)

Hi Le – Oh that is very tricky to use sticky tape and a blanket to win a wrestling match … I bet it was fun for you to watch! Haha! πŸ™‚

  11. Narnie

I wanted to enter this but was too shy to just turn up and whack my name down as I’ve been so tardy lately, haha. Work, work, work makes me a very dull girl.

    1. tracey (Post author)

Hi Kiersty – Oh you shouldn’t have worried about that … I’m fully supportive of tardiness (after all, I so often seem to be that way myself). I hope the work has eased up a little for you, giving you more chance to relax. xx
