Introducing Bambi! … (who looks nothing like a shark-tooth necklace)

So, you know how I have that whole ‘woodland animal’ obsession? … Well, I’m happy to say that my ‘woodlandish’ jewellery collection increased by a factor of one this week.

Look, it’s my brand new (and very cute) Bambi necklace from ‘Vintette‘! (the latest vintage-inspired jewellery range from the multi-talented and super lovely, Jess)

My little white Bambi pendant sits on a delicate brass chain, and is just perfect for me – aside from feeding my woodland obsession, I love the sweet feminine design. I often prefer jewellery that is ‘restrained’ rather than ‘overstated’ when it comes to both size and detail, so Bambi is absolutely wonderful …

Happily for me (yet sadly for my bank balance), Jess told me there will soon be more woodland goodness from Vintette – in the form of rabbit and squirrel pendants … oh be still my beating heart …

Would you care to take a woodland journey with me? Someone needs to pack a picnic basket full of cheese, crackers, fruit and crisp white wine … and we need to organise enough transportation (I’m assuming a few of you will come along?). Given that the aim of our journey is to do some woodland creature spotting, we’d best pick an appropriate ‘woodland’ destination … perhaps somewhere European? … Maybe before we hit the road we should inspire our adventure by each wearing a pretty little necklace from Vintette? … Haha! … Who’s in?

This post is part of the the ‘Seven Day Blogging Challenge’ being hosted by Andrew. The theme of this challenge was to ‘write a blog post on the same topic as one of my most popular posts’. Much as I hate to admit it, my most popular post of all time is this one – ‘The Lore and Lure of the Shark Tooth Necklace‘. I wrote the post very ‘tongue in cheek’, but as is so often the case with me, many people fail to see my humour. I figured writing about a ‘necklace’ of some description was close enough to the task. Anyway, all the details of the blogging challenge are here, and you can see who else is taking part here.

  1. Kylie

    I’ll bring the camembert!

    1. tracey (Post author)

Hi Kylie – Oh yes, excellent addition. You just can’t have a picnic without some soft cheese! 🙂

  2. jan

It’s embarrassing but I get a lot of hits on a post I did on animal poop jewelry.

    1. tracey (Post author)

Hi Jan – Oh dear … so I see I’m not the only one with a popular post that’s a bit embarrassing … I wonder why that always happens?!?! You think people would prefer the posts that are the very height of wit and elegance … haha … oh well … At least our content is getting read! 😉

  3. Jess

Oh, thank you so much Tracey!!! I will bring the blue cheese, and some Cheds – not classy, I know, but so, so tasty 😉
    Jess xx

    1. tracey (Post author)

Hi Jess – No problem at all my dear … it’s a pleasure to write about such a dear little necklace! 🙂
Oh yes, by all means bring along the Cheds and blue cheese … let’s not worry about ‘class’, let’s just focus on ‘enjoyment’! 🙂

  4. Jasmine

super cute necklace! I love the ‘new’ illustrations on your blog!!! Recent change or have I just not noticed before? Your header is so sweet I love it!!!

    1. tracey (Post author)

Hi Jasmine – Thanks! I’m rather fond of my new little Bambi necklace too! 🙂
Thanks also for your kind words about the new illustrations … they are most certainly a new addition to the blog … it was long overdue for me to make a change! 😀

  5. Gabrielle

So cute – I love your bambi pendant (Bambi is one of those animal movies we were talking about that chokes me up – gees I’m a sook). I have a woodland a couple of minutes walk from me – I will do a blog with photos so you can have a virtual walk through the woodland – and if you ever venture up this way we can go for a picnic with cheese, crackers, fruit and wind – yummo. There will be no deer or badger but we do have wallabies, kangaroos, bandicoots, birds, goannas etc.,

    1. tracey (Post author)

Hi Gabrielle – As you know, I just never can resist adding another woodland creature to my ever growing collection! 🙂
(I’m the same as you, Bambi is a movie I just stay a very, very long way away from …).

I so very much loved the woodland you took us all on a virtual tour of … it was lovely to see all the local wildlife and those beautiful trees! Yes, venturing up your way sometime with an ACTUAL picnic basket for a wander sounds glorious as well! 😀

I’m pretty partial to any cute animal (and love the native kinds) … so wallabies, kangaroos, bandicoots (I’ve never seen one of those in the wild), birds and goannas sound wonderful to me! 🙂

  6. hila

what cute necklace! I agree, I like understated, delicate jewellery. My favourite necklace is my tiffany paloma “kiss” necklace. It goes with everything and is so classic. Sounds like you’re planning a small collection of woodland necklaces 🙂

    1. tracey (Post author)

Hi Hila – One day I will reach a point where I have the will power to resist further cute necklaces … but clearly I’m not quite at that point yet! 😉

Your Tiffany ‘kiss’ necklace is lovely … it’s simple and stylish (and that text is just divine). I’m terrible with remembering to accessorise most mornings before I leave the house, so it’s always good to have a ‘go to’ necklace like that!

I know, the woodland addiction continues … and Jess keeps making the sweet necklaces to tempt me (what’s a girl to do?) … 😉

    Oh, that’s so pretty!

    1. tracey (Post author)

Hi Camila – Thanks so much … before too long I’m sure I’ll add to the Bambi necklace with at least the rabbit style as well! 🙂

  9. Andrew

    Hi Tracey,

    Beautiful necklace.

Talking of squirrels, we have them on the island. One particular woodland we took a packed lunch to last year and sat there watching a red squirrel whilst eating lunch and then walked around spotting them.

I’ve never taken a good photo of a red squirrel yet! Always blurred.

    Again beautiful necklace.

    All the best

    1. tracey (Post author)

Hi Andrew – Thanks so much … it’s a sweet necklace for sure! 🙂
You have squirrels on your island? Oh. My. Goodness. You are so very lucky to have such wonderful wildlife. It’s no wonder you packed a lunch and sat to watch a little red squirrel … they always seem like such sweet little animals.
But yes, I imagine they must move rather quickly to make photography a bit tricky!! 😉

Thanks again for the blog challenge – it was lots of fun … I hope next time I can commit to the entire task list.
      Take care.

  10. bobbi

Bambi is the reason I hate hunters.
This is a lovely necklace! I have a silver necklace with a turtle pendant that was a gift from my adored grandad, another one with a fish, another one again with an elephant…my love for animals makes have animals everywere.

Can I bring tofu? If no one else but me eats Tofu, I can always bring Martino along with us. I’m quite sure he would love hte woods, and he loves tofu!! (he’s the strangest cat)
Now i’m off to read that post where nobody got your sense of humor.

    1. tracey (Post author)

Hi Bobbi – Yes, ME TOO (re: your feelings towards hunters). I will never understand how hunting is considered a ‘sport’.

I’m glad you like my necklace … your turtle pendant sounds lovely too (that’s such a lovely gift). Like you, I have animal-themed things everywhere – in my jewel box, around my desk, next to the bed, on my bookshelves … you name a place, I’m sure there’s something ‘animal-related’ there! 😉

You can most definitely bring tofu (well, so long as I can share some too) … you should most definitely bring Martino and of course the rest of your lovely feline brood are welcome too (the more the merrier).

You are a delight Bobbi! 🙂

  11. Christine

I loveit:-)) And pendant picnic??? Count me in! :-))
I gave you an award today. No pressure, if you want to pass, I’m totally ok with that.
    🙂 Have a jolly Tuesday

    1. tracey (Post author)

Hi Christine – I’m glad you like Bambi too (she’s delightful). I’d love to have you along on my pendant picnic … we have a wonderful group of people along for the journey – it’s going to be so much fun! 😉

Thanks so much for your sweet award … I will most happily accept and shall respond with my thoughts this week! 🙂
I hope your weekend was lovely!!

  12. Bili

this one I wouldn’t mind having as well…soooooo CUUUUTE!!! 🙂

    1. tracey (Post author)

Hi Bili – Thanks so much … I never can resist a cute little deer
… it’s even better when I can carry one with me always! 😉

  13. Sonia

It’s a great pendant. I’d like a goldilocks pendant. Always reminds me of a naughty little girl with strawberry curls in the woods. I’ll wear red shoes and bring some bread crumbs.

    1. tracey (Post author)

Hi Sonia – Thanks so much! Oh a goldilocks pendant would be pretty special … I bet you’d find something lovely on etsy! 😉

… I love that you’ll wear your red shoes to the picnic and bring along some bread crumbs … we definitely need someone with a good grounding in the world of fairy tales (it’s people like you who will keep the rest of us out of trouble!). 😉

  14. Mel

We should have a tour of all the blogger’s countries, to see a good variety of wildlife 🙂 I’ll bring some English cheeses, shall I? Cheddar, Double Gloucester, Red Leicester, Wensleydale, Cheshire…. Mmmmm!

    1. tracey (Post author)

Hi Mel – I really love your idea of taking a tour through all the blogger’s countries and spotting the different wildlife … how wonderful! I’m sure I’ll find more types of animals to become obsessed with! 😉

Yes, bring along all that delicious cheese – we’ll need a decent feed. Cheddar is always a classic, and I’m a recent convert to Wensleydale (mainly because of Wallace & Gromit) … and I’m yet to try Double Gloucester, Red Leicester and Cheshire, so definitely bring them all! 😉

  15. Hayley Cafarella

Oh my! I am saving that store, now I desperately want the sewing machine necklace!! xx

    1. tracey (Post author)

Hi Hayley – The sewing machine necklace is particularly sweet, and given your skills in that area, well I do believe you should buy one! 🙂
