I’m rather a fan of certain forms of facial hair on men, I really am. In younger days I think I was more partial to a clean shaven face, however I now tend to think a little facial hair is much better than none. I thought I’d share a few of my favourite examples – Robert Downey Jr pretty much makes anything look cool, Josh Holloway (oh Lost, I miss you so) wears the rugged look well, whereas Jon Hamm (as Don Draper) has perfected the art of a designer five-o’clock-shadow.
So, why all this talk of facial hair? … Well, each year in November the concept of facial hair is taken to brave (and sometimes terrifying) new places. The eleventh month of the year has been re-named ‘Movember‘ to reflect a moustache growing charity event held over the month to raise funds and awareness for men’s health. Men that take the ‘Movember’ challenge start November with a clean shaven face, and are then given the month to grow and groom their moustaches to perfection.
This is Mr Quiet Paws second year of raising money for manly causes – last year he went for the ‘Magnum PI’ style, whereas this year he’s trying on Nick Cave’s handlebar moustache for size. If you’d like to donate to his moustache growing effort you can visit his Movember page. As an extra special incentive, any donation of $10 or more will receive a limited edition ‘mo’ card drawn by Mr Quiet Paws … pretty cool, huh? I was lucky enough to receive a Gromit ‘mo’ card, and I think he looks rather dashing.
What a great idea for raising money. I just sent the Mr. a small donation. Good luck to him! Have a beautiful weekend!
XO Piper
Thank you so much for that!
Hi Piper – Thanks so much for your donation to the Movember cause! It’s very much appreciated!! 😀
Aw, that is so sweet, offering a card to donators 🙂 I shall try to contribute near the end of the month if the goddess of finances is kind to me (she’s been running me ragged lately!) x
Hi Caf – Lee is ever the gracious Movember host! … I know what you mean about the goddess of finance – she can be pretty harsh in her justice sometimes! 😉
Great cause and good on you Lee (I’ll pop over in a virtual minute). That gromit mo card is the coolest thing – fantastic.
Thank you so much for the donation!!!
Now you have to tell me what character you want on your mo-card!!!!
Can I have a gromit too 🙂 or Snowy from Tintin – haha.
Hi Gabrielle – I’m working on a Snowy one for you right now!
That’s awesome (here’s to cartoon doggy woggies).
Hi Gabrielle – Thanks so much for your Movember donation! 🙂
