Are you ready to rumble (or get divorced)?

So the Amazing Race is finally coming to Australia for a locally produced version … While it’s one reality show that I have actually watched (for the travel destinations and the relationship fireworks), I’ve never been tempted to actually appear on the show myself. Though perhaps you think differently?

Casting couples for the Australian version of the show is well underway, with entries closing today. As for the prize, well it’s described as being a ‘massive cash prize’ … whatever that means? (perhaps the local prize will be significantly less than the usual $1 million?).

While I have no doubt that Mr Quiet Paws and I would be entertaining to watch (we’d be that crazy couple that ALWAYS seem to disagree and have massive meltdowns when things don’t go their way), I’ve managed to resist submitting an application myself.

Much like playing Super Mario on the Wii with your significant other, I personally feel that entering ‘The Amazing Race’ as a happily married couple is just asking for trouble (mega-divorce mode anyone?).

If however you do decide to enter, I’ll wish you the very best of luck and hope your relationship survives unscathed (or at least makes for some great tv).

We thought about entering at one point then realised it was only for US people

Not sure we would enter now though. Too much other cool stuff going on!

Hi Leonie – I just bet you’d be one half of a lovely level-headed couple who would win the hearts of all and charm the audience entirely! 🙂
But you’re right, when there are other ‘real’ adventures and exciting life plans underway, who needs ‘The Amazing Race’ anyway? 😉

Take care (and thanks so much for your lovely emails btw … they are a joy to receive, and I WILL find some time to respond soon). 🙂

I would pay good money to see Mr Quiet Paws running around like a headless baboon on international TV. In fact I’m half tempted to apply on your behalf now.

I won’t of course, out of respect to your good self. I might just sign him up for fear factor instead.

Hi Dan – Oh you do make me laugh with your taunts at the expense of Mr Quiet Paws … though thanks for showing restraint in NOT nominating him for a place on The Amazing Race (I’m pretty sure we’d just end up killing eachother).

Hmmm … Lee on Fear Factor, that would be just TOO cruel for both of us! (he’d likely suffer nightmares for months after) … 😉

Hahahaha! That is a great title – or hook you have created there – just had to read this post. I’m sure entering reality tv shows is not good for any relationships.

Hi Gabrielle – Haha, I’m so glad you like my post title (anything to get the readers in of course!) 😉 … I have serious concerns for any happy couple (whether that be husband and wife, mother and daughter, or best friends) who enter reality tv shows and subject themselves to pressure-filled situations.
