Wishing you a very happy holiday …

Have you started reflecting on the year that was yet? Or are you more of a future gazer, and find yourself already looking forward to what 2012 will hold? In late December I always find myself doing a bit of both … trying to work out whether the year that has almost ended was on balance a good or bad one, and thinking about what I want to accomplish in the year that lies ahead.

Happy (quiet paws) Holidays!

I don’t know if it’s just me, but do you find that as the years go by you spend less time reflecting on just what you hope the next 12 months will hold, but more time thinking about what you want to also achieve in the next 5, 10 or lifetime of years? … Perhaps this is just something that happens as we get older?

Personally for me 2011 was a year of change – adding a cat to the family, taking an extended leave of absence from my job, travelling to Singapore and Malaysia (which I WILL tell you about soon), joining a gym, growing my hair, and discovering the joy of wearing Saltwater Sandals. I feel there are many more changes to come yet … and so long as they’re positive, that’s A-OK with me!

Was 2011 a year of change for you too? Or perhaps it was a welcome dose of stability? Either way,Β I wish you the happiest of holiday seasons (however, whatever and wherever you’ll be celebrating). Remember, even if 2011 wasn’t everything you hoped it would be, there’s always 2012 to set things straight! xx

    Tracey,
Merry Christmas to you! Saltwaters … are they really comfy? Now I wish I had added them to the wish list.
I’m hoping 2012 will be completely different from 2011.

Hi Carmel – Oh my goodness, you would not believe just how COMFORTABLE Saltwaters are … seriously! This comes from someone who has trouble with every type of shoe. The Saltwaters gave me no trouble at all – no rubbing, no blisters, nothing. Just comfort and good looks! πŸ™‚

I have every confidence that 2012 will be so much better than 2011.

Hi Belinda – Yes, I think a dash of luck always helps. I just know that this year will be wonderful for us all.
      Take care. xx

The past two months have been a change in my working environment….I do reflect and I do look forward, but I’m more of a here and now kind of person…taking it day by day…

Happy Holidays to you and yours…

Hi Gracey – Well hopefully things settle down for you on the work front. Being a ‘here and now’ person is often a very useful thing to be.

  4. Teresa

Wishing you a very happy holiday too Tracey! I hope you enjoyed a fabulous Xmas.
I’m usually one to ponder a little more on the year that was but this year I’m, obviously, a little more focussed on the year ahead. I think 2012 will bring wonderful things for both of us! Oh… and I want to see your growing hair! How long are you planning on going? πŸ™‚

    1. tracey (Post author)

Hi Teresa – You are so sweet! (apologies for the belated reply) – some things never change, hey? πŸ˜‰
Yes, yes … your year ahead is going to be magical for so many reasons – how very exciting!!

My hair is just skimming my shoulders now … I thought it was time for a change. This is a good length, so I’m not sure how much longer I’ll go … depends on my laziness levels in getting to the hairdresser most probably. I’ll have to send you a pic once it’s looking more presentable.

Merry Christmas Tracey – hope you had a good one πŸ™‚ and wishing you the best for 2012. The older I get the more I realise how many years I wasted in my yoof! (it’s amazing I got anything done at all – haha) and now I appreciate every minute of this life passing so quickly. I hope to be more organised in 2012 and first thing I’m doing is getting a new desk (a bigger one to sort my masses of paperwork out) and cleaning my home office.

    1. tracey (Post author)

Hi Gabrielle – My Christmas was pretty relaxed (though we did travel around to both sides of our family on the one day). I hope you had a lovely time too, and that Santa treated you well! πŸ˜‰

Ha! I know what you mean about looking back on a misspent youth … perhaps that’s all part of the journey.
How wonderful that you have organisation in mind for this year … that feeling of calm and cleanliness always helps get the creative juices flowing freely. I’d love to get a bigger desk too (mine tends to get covered in hand written notes to myself) – or maybe I should just clean up more! πŸ˜‰
      xx

Tracey, I wish you a amazing New Year, with lots of great accomplishments! I can’t wai to see your Singapore and Malaysia pictures!

    1. tracey (Post author)

Hi Camila – Thanks so much for your well wishes … I hope the new year has started brilliantly well for you. Would you believe that I’ve only just now finished sorting through all my travel photos!?!? I’ll get them up soon, and pick out a few highlights from each. xx

  7. Selma

I sort of think about the bigger picture too as I get older. In 2012 I would like to be more productive. I feel sometimes like I am wasting my life dealing with things like anxiety. I need to get a handle on things and get MOVING. Wishing you much happiness in 2012, Tracey xxxx

    1. tracey (Post author)

Hi Selma – Yes! I say YES to productivity too … I definitely need to achieve more – I know just what you mean about feeling like you waste time on things like anxiety. I’m a chronic worrier, so given half the chance I’d worry half my life away.

I wish you every happiness too … did you hear? It’s going to be a wonderful 12 months! xx

looks like 2011 has been a great year for you!! omg i want saltwarter sandals!! what colour do you have and did you get them online? are they super comfy? wishing you a wonderful new year tracey!

    1. tracey (Post author)

Hi Laura – It was an interesting year, that’s for sure. I’m thinking 2012 is going to be much, much better though.
You simply HAVE to get yourself some Saltwater Sandals … I can’t stop raving about them. I have them in yellow glossy and matte red (so far), but it’s really hard to stop at just two pairs … I’m sure I’ll be adding to the collection soon enough! πŸ™‚
They are sooooo comfortable – seriously. The most comfortable pair of shoes I own, I really should do a proper post about them sometime.

I did buy mine online … I’ve purchased through these before (but you’ll probably find more yourself).

Hi Sandrine – Haha, Stacey / Tracey … it’s all the same to me! I knew you were talking to me, and funnily enough I do get called Stacey quite often! πŸ™‚

I very much enjoyed my Christmas / New Year period, it was a nice change of pace … and the new year has been lovely so far. Yes indeed, it will be lovely to catch up ‘in person’ one of these days. I hope you’ve been keeping well and keeping happy.

Greetings Tracey – Wishing you the happiest of holidays, and an impressive fresh start to twenty-twelve! There’s so very much to do in the New Year, especially in the paramount departments of creativity, adventure, excitement, and play! Resolution: Must accomplish all!

    1. tracey (Post author)

Hello dearest Lisa – Thank you so much for your kind holiday greeting … I do trust you had a lovely end of year / new year celebration? Or better yet, that you’re planning on this whole year of 2012 to be a celebration in its own right. πŸ™‚

Yes, there is always much swirling about of thoughts, plans and activities at this time of year … but thankfully I’ve found some of that focus I’ve been looking for, and dare I say it? I think there may be some magic in it.

Lisa, I hope this year brings you every happiness and sees more of your dreams fulfilled. You are so very sweet to drop by. xx

  12. Linda from Heartfire At Home

Hey Tracey! You certainly did change heaps in 2011! Funnily enough I bought a fab book a few weeks back called ‘Five – Where Will You Be Five Years From Today?’ It’s actually a wonderful book, and the lady in the shop said it’s their most popular book (they had a range of motivational quote books etc). I’ve been doing a lot of thinking about BIG and small things…. and 2012 will see some great changes (I hope). I start my new job at the end of January. I’ve taken a leave of absence from teaching and have gone into real estate sales! Hopefully I can blend my teaching skills, property styling and interior design skills, and copywriting and marketing skills all into one job! Time will tell.

    Happy holidays!!

    Linda. xoxo

    1. tracey (Post author)

Hi Linda – Oh I know the book you’re talking about. I think the ‘Five’ book is wonderful too … and it’s certainly a good way to make progress forward and think deeply about what you want to achieve. Although, I don’t know whether you need any help with that – you’re already well on your way!! πŸ™‚

I’m so excited about your new job – I can’t wait to hear all about it. I think it will be a great way to do a lot of different things in the one job … I wish you every success!! xx

Kinda brilliant that he loves me back too, haha.

happy new year tracey! I’m looking forward to hearing more about your travels, and seeing what this year brings πŸ™‚

    1. tracey (Post author)

Hi Hila – Happy New Year!! I have only just this past week finished going through all my travel photos (I took waaaaaay too many!). I’ll have to get myself organised and pull together a post about what I got up to when I was away, sometime soon.

I have a feeling that 2012 will be a wonderful year … and I just know it’s going to be amazing for you Hila. It already sounds like it’s starting that way. xx
