Earlier this month something rather wonderful happened. You all became co-sponsors of the lovely deer ‘Bambi’ (I hope you don’t mind). I’ve sponsored Bambi on behalf of everyone who is part of my little blog community, so we can all help make the world a little bit nicer for animals like him.
Bambi is just one of the animals cared for by Edgar’s Mission – a not for profit sanctuary for neglected, abused and discarded farm (and other) animals. By sponsoring Bambi, we’re all helping to provide him with food and veterinary treatment throughout the year. I’ll be receiving quarterly updates on how Bambi is doing, so I’ll be sure to pass on any news when it arrives. How could anyone resist Bambi’s lovely deer face? (… he’s the one on the left).
Bambi was a survivor of the 2009 Victorian bushfires, staggering out of the forest without his mother, and suffering from smoke inhalation and dehydration. Following a lot of tender loving care, he fully recovered and now calls Edgar’s Mission home. As one of Bambi’s sponsors, we’re all welcome to visit him in person for pats and cuddles … I think that’s a rather wonderful excuse for a holiday to Victoria, don’t you think? Road trip, anyone?

Oh, and apologies for my complete slackness with announcing winners of my last giveaway (time just got away from me). I hope the lucky winners are happy with their prizes (I’ll send you all an email soon to grab your postal addresses): Gabrielle (‘do not feed the ducks’ paperclip set), Sofia (Bespoke), Juliet (‘do not feed the ducks’ paperclip set), Rel (original artworks of Audrey Hepburn and Ingrid Bergman), Debby (glass tile magnet set), Sonia (writer’s bracelet). Congratulations!

Such a good cause. And isn’t he sweet!
Hi Lynne – I think it’s a lovely organisation … I’m already greedy to hear about Bambi’s latest adventures. I shall have to practice more patience. 🙂
What a great idea to sponsor bambi!
Thank you so much for the duck paperclips. Miss 2 had a duck birthday cake, so it is safe to say that anything duck related goes down very well in this house!
Hi Juliet – He’s adorable. I had a little trouble choosing which animal to sponsor, but honestly I find it hard to go past a sweet little deer. I’m happy you won the paperclips … it sounds like the ducks will be very happy in your home.
🙂
Oh you are so lovely. Thank you for sharing your generosity so unselfishly with all of us. You are a beautiful person.
Hi Lucent Imagery – Oh you are so sweet to say that … I think it will be lovely for us all to see what Bambi gets up to, and to watch him grow. xx
you are so sweet and kind, I wish I could speak to you in person tracey! I love this.
oh and about your post below: what do you think of pia’s book? I’m curious about your impressions as I haven’t received my copy yet 🙂
Hi Hila – Oh you are so lovely. xx
I’m hoping one day we will be able to meet up (sometimes Australia feels like a very big place, doesn’t it?) … I’d love to chat over a wonderful cup of coffee or two. 🙂
As for Pia’s book … oh my Hila, I’m sure you will adore it. I’m genuinely surprised by its generous size (which is always a bonus in a book), and the text and images are just lovely. I feel inspired and uplifted as I turn each of the pages. For someone like me who has often thought about what would happen if I just followed by heart instead of always listening to my head, her book is a real thought-provoker. xx
Naaaaaw, poor bambi! And so darn CUTE with his one ear sticking out!
And I would totally go cuddle him if he lived a bit closer 🙂
Hi Signe – Isn’t he sweet … I’m so happy he has found a wonderful place to call home. He is very cuddle-worthy … I hope one day I can pay him a visit and take lots of photos for you all. 🙂
Hi Tracey,Thank you so much for awarding me a prize -very exciting! And I am very honoured to be a co sponsor of Bambi! Rel
Hi Rel – You’re very welcome about your prize … and I think we’ll all have lots of fun looking after the lovely Bambi.

much love,
n♥
Hi Woolf – It seems the timing hasn’t quite aligned this time around for my giveaway … but never fear, I have these every once in a little while, so next time you’ll be all set to enter (and maybe even win). You are so sweet to congratulate the winners. xx
Isn’t Bambi a handsome little fellow? I can’t wait to see him grow, and maybe even one day visit him in person … that would be wonderful. When I get a chance to visit him I will be sure to pass on a hug and a kiss from you … I had to laugh at your reference to a plastic deer, you should see how many ‘fake’ deer fellows I have at my home. 😉
I hadn’t heard of Edgar’s Mission until now and it is just fantastic. I will so look forward to hearing about the lovely deer. What a wonderful idea!
Hi Selma – It’s a new organisation to me … but I’m so glad it exists. He is a sweet little gentleman, and I look forward to sharing any news of him I receive. Thanks! 🙂
This is such a lovely post Tracey. Bambi is so cute and what a lovely idea about sponsoring on behalf of everyone. I’ve just read about Edgar’s Mission it’s a great concept, and so cool that James Cromwell (farmer Hoggett) is involved, I have a really soft spot for him and loved ‘Babe.’
We get little monk-jack deers coming into our garden from the woods. They aren’s as pretty as babe but I love them and forgive them eating all the tops of the green shoots!!
I’m so excited about winning one of the gifts…I can’t wait to see it…thank you so much Tracey…:o)
Debx
Hi Debby – Oh thanks so much for your sweet words. Bambi is so very cute, I just thought it would be nice for us all to be a little part of his life. I’m looking forward to his next update! 🙂
It’s lovely that James Cromwell is involved in Edgar’s Mission … I really like the idea of the organisation as well, I think they do important, positive work. Oh and I loved Babe too! 🙂
Those little monk-jack deers sound sweet, sometimes the cute critters just get away with causing a little chaos on account of being so very cute.
PS. I’m so happy you were a giveaway winner Debby, and I’m thrilled to hear you love your prize! (sorry I’m behind on email replies at the moment – but thanks for yours). xx
Aww little Bambi is soooo cute! So glad that he is being so well looked after – and it is very nice of you to sponsor him! Aww I want to go visit for some pats!
Hi Jasmine – Isn’t Bambi just adorable?!?! I just couldn’t resist sponsoring him on the behalf of us all … that way we can spread the cuddles and pats around!! 🙂
