The Twelve Days of Chocmas (Day Eleven)

How’s today looking for you? All bright and colourful I hope … I’m back in the office today after my little break over Christmas and New Year. While my time off has gone by really quickly, I also feel like I got a lot of things done … though of course that to-do list never seems to get any shorter.

On the eleventh day of Chocmas,

my true love sent to me

Eleven coloured smarties,

Ten dinner mints,

Nine choc maltesers,

Eight choc mint balls,

Seven m & m’s,

Six chocolate peanuts,

Five giant buttons,

Four choc rochers,

Three lindt balls,

Two golden roughs,

And a tasty minted pattie.

Smarties are a lovely sweet treat, though I suspect I enjoyed them much more as a child than I do as an adult. Whereas back then I was happy just eating anything sweet, now I prefer ethically produced chocolate from the dark end of the spectrum … isn’t it amazing how things change?

PS. With all this talk of chocolate, I’ve reminded myself that I need to re-join the gym this week. That’s OK because I really like the gym, the only trouble is finding the time each day in which to squeeze it in. I’m also yet to decide whether to go more for traditional aerobics classes or give yoga and pilates a go. Do you have any healthy plans for your 2011?

      Hi Erika – Doing yoga once or twice each week sounds like a great way to get healthy … I really want to get back to feeling fit and healthy this year too! πŸ™‚

    I must have immature taste buds as I still love smarties – hahaha (though I am actually not much of a sweet tooth – more a cheesy person like Wallace πŸ™‚ Aerobics sounds a bit hard on the joints for me – I’ll just go with the long walks, though I still seem to be stuck in the unhealthy Christmas vibe

      Hi Gabrielle – Haha … no, you don’t have immature taste buds for liking smarties … I just think the candy shell-to-chocolate ratio doesn’t work as well for me as pure dark chocolate does! πŸ™‚
      Oh yes, cheese is another of my favourite indulgences … I think Wallace and Gromit definitely have the right idea there (one of our favourite meals at home is an indoor picnic – fruit platter, crackers and lots of cheese!).

      Long walks are a lovely thing to do … I just don’t seem to get the chance to do enough of it around my home suburb – going to the gym kind of forces me to dedicate time to exercise during the day.
      I’m pretty sure January is THE month for gradually easing out of the Christmas unhealthiness and into a more healthy diet … enjoy it Gabrielle! πŸ™‚
