Letting Sleeping Dogs Lie …

At the moment I’m going through one of those periods ruled by bad sleep patterns. Normally I sleep relatively easily and deeply … but of late, even though I’m completely exhausted at the end of each day, as soon as I get to bed I seem to wake up again.

When I do finally get to sleep, I no longer have the ability to find deep sleep, instead I’m sleeping more shallowly and less refreshingly … fingers crossed this sleep cycle will pass sooner rather than later.

Someone that does seem to be able to sleep well is this lovely dog I spied over the fence. He seems to have the right idea. He’s found himself the perfect sheltered spot for a nice relaxing afternoon snooze …

Why wouldn’t you let sleeping dogs lie when they look as cute as this?

Tracey- the same thing has been happening to me with sleep and not being well rested. I blame getting old and stress. ๐Ÿ™‚ Last night my dream was getting chased by video game monsters with swords.- Strange I know.

Hi Erika – I wonder if it’s something to do with the time of year that just throws our sleep patterns into a spiral? Haha, but yes … perhaps it’s just due to age and stress! ๐Ÿ˜‰
It’s incredible what dreams our minds create for us at night … no wonder we don’t sleep well with all of that going on!

I hope you have a good night of sleep tonight! ๐Ÿ™‚

My dogs get into some seriously hilarious positions when asleep – on their back with 4 legs in the air – haha. Valarian is great for sleep and other herbs (you can buy all sorts of teas that are great for unwinding). You may be overtired – always seem to make sleep fitful. Hope you have deep sleep soon.

Hi Gabrielle – Haha, I love the descriptions of your dogs sleeping on their backs … I don’t think my dog would be able to manage that … he’s a bit uncoordinated!
Thanks for the tips on herbal remedies to soothe me to sleep … I think I actually managed to get a relatively decent amount of sleep last night … so fingers crossed that continues (otherwise I’ll be back to the herbal teas).
I suspect I probably have been overtired, there’s been a lot going on and it makes it a challenge to properly ‘wind down’.

My sleep is quite good, but little. My problem is that as lazy as I am I adore getting up early in the morning. In winter I sleep a little more because morning are dark, but in summer I sometimes get up before five a.m.
I used to have a lot of nightmares but as I grew older they disappear. Now it’s very difficult for me to have one. It’s the opposite: sometimes I wake myself up because I laugh in my sleep.

Hi Bobbi – It sounds like you’ve got a nice balance though with getting a good sleep, even if you don’t get a huge amount of it. Perhaps in the case of sleep quality wins out over quantity?
I am so envious of your ability to get up early in the morning … I love the world at that time of the day, but I adore sleeping in just that little bit more. Getting up before 5am for me would be a very, very rare occurrence! ๐Ÿ˜‰

How wonderful that you can wake yourself up by laughing in your sleep … I think that just speaks of the tremendous amount of joy you have in your life.
      Take care.
      xx
