Three things I have recently seen

Some days seem to pass us by so quickly, we barely notice the brief moments that link the time between sunrise and sunset. I like the other kinds of days best – the days where you happily observe the little pieces of life that are going on around you. I had a day like that recently …

I often think that to appreciate the loveliness of externalities, it’s better to focus inwards and let the hectic pace and busy distractions of our days just fall away. At such times the most intriguing events reveal themselves … This is what I saw:

  1. A man rescue a baby bird from a busy road.
  2. A woman interestedly studying a young dreadlocked musician on the train while her husband snoozed beside her.
  3. Blades of grass dancing in the breeze, keeping perfect harmony with my favorite song.

I love noticing random little things … how about you? Have you noticed something interesting today?

That’s why you are a writer – you are a good observer Tracey! Today I have noticed that my mood changes in direct relation to the music I am playing and that some music is just way too sentimental – haha. On the weekend down near a lake/swampy area I noticed the strangest little bird – a bit like a roadrunner – going so fast it looked like it was walking on water (have no idea what it was).

Hi Gabrielle – Aww … you are always so sweet Gabrielle! I think sometimes that observation is the main fuel that a writer needs to fire the imagination and create the beginnings of a story …
How interesting that you notice how your mood changes in relation to the music you’re listening too … I have to be careful of that myself – a lot of my music tends towards the dark and moody … and that’s not always a good thing! 😉

I love hearing about all the lovely wildlife you come across in your travels here and there … I wonder what that bird was?!?! I’ve been known to dig out my old bird identification books on the odd occasion when we have an unusual birdy visitor (but it sounds like your variety was moving too quickly for that!).

such a nice post. It made me think about how I go through the day without appreciating the little things in nature, or little acts of kindness by random people. Thank you for reminding me to slow down and look at the world.

Hi Julie – Thanks for your kind words … I’m glad you enjoyed my little observations.
I think it’s wonderful when we take the chance to slow down and just notice the tiny goings on around us … I hope you’re having a lovely week! 🙂

Hi Hila – Thanks for your kind words on my random ‘things that I’ve seen’ … I really need to take more time to observe and just ‘be’ in the world, rather than try to focus my energies and attention elsewhere.
