Brown paper packages

You know that age old truism* about how really wonderful things come packaged in brown paper? Well I had two lovely brown paper packages arrive home this week – one by mail and one from a store.

The first was the arrival of my reusable coffee cup by KeepCup, an item I’ve been meaning to buy forever and a day. While I know my coffee habit is likely harmful to the environment, I’m really not in a place in my life where I can even consider giving it up. The least I can do is to forego my daily use of takeaway cups. Thanks to my lovely new KeepCup I feel that the world is already a little bit of a better place. I bought mine from Biome, but you may prefer to buy from the KeepCup online store.

My second brown paper package purchase was from House Shoes. With the weather getting a little cooler, I really needed to find something lovely to slip my feet into. Apart from being super cute and super warm, the soft foam soles of House Shoes are made from industrial waste diverted from landfill, thus helping to create a sustainable future for the planet. You can (and should) buy a pair for yourself here.

*not actually proven, though surely it must be true.

Hello there lovely Helena – (How are you?) … I honestly can’t believe it has taken me this long to get sorted with a reusable coffee cup – I’ve been such a lazy environmentalist! πŸ˜‰
And yes indeed, my feet and toes have been keeping toasty and warm in their new slippers. The cold weather brings with it all manner of charms … πŸ™‚

    Snazzy coffee mug. Excellent. πŸ™‚

Back in the day I brought a travel mug. For years I spent a fortune at train stations and then started taking my own travel coffee mug. Saves money, coffee stays warmer and reduces waste. Result!

Hi Andrew – It’s nice to hear you’re a fan of my new coffee cup, it’s going to completely revolutionise my world I’m sure! Though it does sound like you beat me to this most sensible of purchases some time ago, and in much more efficient fashion … better late than never I say! πŸ™‚

It will be nice to not be wasting so much paper and plastic just for the sake of my morning coffee … instead I can enjoy the environmental warm and fuzzy feelings! πŸ™‚
