The character of Jack Bauer is such a grounded man who has an innate sense of what is right and wrong, and what is required of him under certain circumstances. He should really be a inspiration to men all over the world. The writers of 24 have done an amazing job to stay true to his core character while also allowing his character grow. As you rightly point out, it is hard to believe how far Kiefer Sutherland has come.
